What is image hosting?

Image hosting is a special form of hosting, where instead of a complete website, a set of images is put on the server. For example, you can have smilies for your guestbook, or photos for your webpage, hosted on a image hosting server. You may want to do this because:

• Your free hosting provider does not allow you to put images which are linked on other pages (your guestbook, etc) than your own. This is often the case with free hosting providers - they are trying to ensure that you are not trying to use them as a free resource for Internet storage.
• Your hosting provider does not provide you with enough storage space, but you don't want to sign up for bigger space because it would cost you too much.

Image hosting is usually inexpensive, but you cannot put your homepage on image hosting server. You can store there only graphics, and sometimes animations, sounds and other multimedia objects that you want to use on other pages.
